Im Interesse der Teilnehmer*innen und aller Parteien hat die Swiss O Week frühzeitig entschieden, den Anlass definitiv 2021 in Arosa durchzuführen, die Vorbereitungsarbeiten planmässig weiterzuführen und sogar zu erweitern. Die Swiss O Week 2021 findet entweder wie gewohnt als Mehrtage-OL oder als „My Swiss O Week 2021“ statt, bei der alle ihre OL- und Erlebniswoche selbständig und individuell aus einem breiten Angebot zusammenstellen können.

Das OK der Swiss O Week Arosa 2021 hat sich intensiv mit der unsicheren Lage aufgrund der Corona-Pandemie befasst. Es geht zum heutigen Zeitpunkt davon aus, dass die Swiss O Week im Sommer regulär als Mehrtage-OL durchgeführt werden kann. So stehen zurzeit die Detailplanungen der Wettkämpfe, die Corona-Schutzkonzepte für die sechs Etappen, die Verpflegung oder die Transporte im Vordergrund. Alle Karten sind erstellt, die Bahnen gelegt.

Das OK rechnet mit einer weniger hohen Teilnehmerzahl, weil im Sommer weltweit nach wie vor Reisebeschränkungen gelten dürften und so weniger ausländischen OL-Gäste nach Arosa kommen können. Das OK ist unverändert entschlossen, trotz aller momentanen Unsicherheiten eine einzigartige Swiss O Week 2021 in Arosa durchzuführen.
Falls sich im Mai 2021 zeigen sollte, dass die Swiss O Week 2021 aufgrund der Behördenvorgaben nicht als Mehrtage-OL durchgeführt werden darf, findet sie als „My Swiss O Week 2021“ statt. „My Swiss O Week 2021“ bietet allen ambitionierten und erfahrenen OL-Sportler*innen wie auch ihren OL-interessierten Familienangehörigen ein vielfältiges individuelles OL-und Freizeitangebot. Das OK will für die OL-Sportler*innen in diesem Szenario unter anderem ein umfangreiches OL-Trainingsangebot in spannenden Laufgeländen rund um Arosa, virtuelle Wettkämpfe auf der Basis von GPS-Routen und GPS-Zeiten, aber auch spielerische OL-Formen für Jung und Alt auf die Beine stellen. Das Programm wird einen bunten Strauss von Angeboten bereithalten, aus dem sich jede und jeder individuell sportliche Ferien in einer attraktiven Berglandschaft – und natürlich mit einer Prise Abenteuer – zusammenstellen kann. Dank der Arosa Card bringen die Bergbahnen alle Gäste gratis ins einzigartige Biker- und Wanderparadies. Das Bärenland will besucht und das kulturelle und kulinarische Ferienangebote in Arosa genossen werden. Das OK konkretisiert in den kommenden Wochen entsprechende Inhalte.

Der Entscheid, ob die Swiss O Week in der bisher geplanten und bewährten Form als Mehrtage-OL oder als „My Swiss O Week 2021“ stattfindet, wird rechtzeitig vor dem Meldeschluss am 31. Mai 2021 kommuniziert. Das OK wird so schnell wie möglich über die konkreten Angebote und die finanziellen Auswirkungen (Startgeld) eines Formatwechsels informieren. Die Modalitäten einer Startgeldrückerstattung werden ebenfalls in Kürze bekannt gegeben.

All jene, die sich bereits angemeldet haben, müssen im Moment nichts unternehmen. Allen anderen, die mit der Anmeldung noch zugewartet haben, will das OK mit seinem Entscheid, in jedem Fall eine erlebnisreiche Ferienwoche in Arosa anzubieten, die nötige Planungssicherheit geben. Es lohnt sich also für alle, die Ferien in diesem Sommer definitiv in Arosa zu verbringen!
Und: 2023 findet die nächste Swiss O Week zusammen mit den OL-Weltmeisterschaften in Flims-Laax statt.

Definitive execution of SOW 2021
In the interest of the participants and all parties, the Swiss O Week has decided at an early stage to definitely hold the event in Arosa in 2021, to continue the preparatory work as planned and even to expand it. The Swiss O Week 2021 will take place either as usual as the well-known multi-day O event or as "My Swiss O Week 2021", where everyone can put together their orienteering and adventure week independently and individually from a wide range of offers.

The Organizing Committee (OC) of the Swiss O Week Arosa 2021 has intensively dealt with the uncertain situation regarding the circumstances around the Corona development. Currently, the OC assumes that the Swiss O Week can be held in the summer in its regular format and it is working at full speed to define what a regular execution of Swiss O Week would look like.

The OC is expecting a lower number of participants because travel restrictions are still likely to apply worldwide during the summer and thus fewer foreign orienteering guests will be able to come to Arosa. The OC is still determined to hold a unique Swiss O Week 2021 in Arosa despite all the current uncertainties
However, if it becomes clear in May 2021 that the requirements of the law and the authorities do not allow an event of the size of Swiss O Week, the event will take place as "My Swiss O Week 2021". “My Swiss O Week 2021" offers all ambitious and experienced orienteers as well as their family members interested in orienteering a varied individual orienteering and leisure offer. Conceivable are, for example; several orienteering training day over different exiting terrains around Arosa, virtual competitions on the basis of GPS routes and GPS times as well as playful orienteering forms for young and old. “My Swiss O Wek” will provide a colourful bouquet of offers from which everyone can put together an individual sporting holiday in an attractive mountain landscape - and of course with a pinch of adventure. Thanks to the Arosa Card, the mountain railroads will take all guests to the unique biker and hiker paradise free of charge. The Arosa Bear Sanctuary wants to be visited and the cultural and culinary vacation offers in Arosa to be explored. The OC is concretizing the corresponding contents in the coming weeks.

The decision as to whether the Swiss O Week can take place in the planned and proven form or whether “My Swiss O Week” will step in will be communicated in good time before the registration deadline on 31 May 2021. The Organizing Committee will also have clarified and communicated the logistical and financial consequences of a change of format.
The OC will inform as soon as possible about the concrete offers and the financial consequences (entry fee) of a format change. The modalities of an entry fee refund will also be announced shortly.

All those who have already registered do not have to do anything at the moment. For all others who have waited with their registration, the OC wants to give the necessary planning security with its decision to offer an eventful vacation week in Arosa in any case. So it is worthwhile for everyone to definitely spend the vacations in Arosa this summer!
The next Swiss O Week will take place in 2023 in conjunction with the World Orienteering Championships in Flims-Laax.
